In a move that shouldn't be a big surprise if you ask me, the Twins and manager Paul Molitor worked out a three-year contract. Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeted that the contract is worth four million dollars over the three years.
Molitor, after a Hall of Fame career on the field, managed the Twins for three years. In that time, he went 227-259. In 2015, the team overachieved according to some and after a disastrous 2016, the Twins returned to the playoffs in 2017 for the first time since 2010.
There were some that wondered if Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey and General Manager Thad Levine would want to bring in their own guy. However, getting to the playoffs obviously helped his case.
It is not yet known if all the coaches will be back or if there will be some changes. I will be back tomorrow talking about what I thought of the move and where the Twins go from here. But the big news is Paul Molitor will be back in 2018. Check back tomorrow and we will have more in-depth coverage of this story.
