Packers vs Vikings Recap

It is important first to make clear something the Packer faithful have been throwing an accusation against Vikings fans.  We are not happy that Aaron Rodgers got hurt we would instead have beaten a full strength Packer team.

Aaron Rodgers

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers rolled out early in the first quarter and attempted to find a receiver.  He threw incomplete and just as he let go of the ball defender Anthony Barr tackled him into the ground.  Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone and likely will be out for a while and its possible the season.  Brett Hundley will take over for the Packers at quarterback.  It is a seismic change in the division as the Packers were the odds-on favorite to win the North.  It will be interesting to see how the year goes.

What happened

In the game, there are two parts which are with Rodgers and without Rodgers.  Aaron Rodgers got hurt in the first quarter, so there is not a lot of stats without him in, but the way that the Vikings defense played the Packers changed.  Overall the defense was excellent holding Green Bay quarterback Brett Hundley and the Packers to just 227 yards including 105 in the air.  They were also able to keep the Packers to 72 yards rushing.

When the Vikings had the ball quarterback Case Keenum was solid if not good.  Keenum threw for 239 yards and a touchdown along with his first interception of the year.  Jerick Mckinnon had 99 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.  Adam Thielen had nine catches for 97 yards.  Laquan Treadwell had his best day as a professional catching three passes for 51 yards.  Defensively they caused three interceptions out of Hundley.  They went to Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, and Trae Waynes.  Eric Kendricks also had eleven tackles.

What is next

The Vikings finish their three-game homestand Sunday at home against the Baltimore Ravens.  The Vikings will come into that game with a 4-2 record trying to increase their season-high winning streak to three games.  The Ravens come off an overtime loss to Chicago and arrive at 3-2.  Check back as I will have a preview of that game Sunday morning.
