Gophers Try for First Big 10 Win

(by Jonathan Lewis MSU Contributor)
The Gopher football team hosts Illinois today for homecoming. Both teams are searching for their first win in Big 10 play coming in (0-3) here are some keys to the game:

Find a rhythm on offense: With Connor Rhoda having been benched it’s time for Demry Croft to lead the Gopher offense. Croft led the charge in the second half against Michigan State and developed good chemistry with Tyler Johnson. With few winnable games coming up for the Gophers they need to take care of business against Illinois. The defense needs to make sure they don’t allow the Fighting Illini any opportunities to hang around through penalties or other fluky plays that extend drives. Simply get the job done and get the win. It would also be nice to get out of the game healthy considering all of the injuries that the Gophers have had so far this year.  Get the job done and pick up the win. Expect a full recap of the game tonight here on Minnesota Sports Unlimited.
